Many HR managers hold that the priority of an organization should be its employees, i.e., that when and only when employees see their personal interests met, customer will be well served because satisfied employees make satisfied customers. Critically discuss this view.
Human resource management refers to the process of managing employees in an organization. This involves the process of recruitment, selection, employee induction, employee orientation, provision of employee training and development, performance appraisal, deciding the employee compensation and benefits and ensure harmonious employee relationships within the organization. Human resource managers believe that satisfied and happy employees help get organization satisfied clients and customers. Satisfied employees are more likely to help and assist customers and get higher level of customer satisfaction. On the contrary, low employee morale can affect the performance of the organization negatively and may hurt the profitability of the firm. Therefore, human resource managers often feel that happy employees are key to a successful business. Employee satisfaction increases employee productivity which in turn is the key to the company's profitability. If the employees feel appreciated and valued, their willingness to perform better will increase.
