Her spleen is slightly enlarged. Results for the initial CBC and blood tests are below. The patient failed to respond to oral iron therapy and further tests were made. Additional tests for Epstein-Barr virus, parvovirus B19, cytomegalovirus and mycoplasma are all negative. IgA, IgG and IgM are all within the normal levels. However, serum anti-tissue transglutaminase and anti-reticulin are positive. A duodenal biopsy was then arranged.
