" Death is a constant risk for undocumented migrants entering Texas" by Lomi Kriel and Uriel J. Garcia gives a detailed report on how illegal immigration has caused the death of many migrants entering texas. The article makes constant points on how migrants' increased desperation to cross the border and settle in the U.S has caused them to use methods such as smuggling. This method is seen as dangerous because of the conditions that migrants are put through during the smuggling process. There have been many reports of migrants being put in places such as holding containers where they die due to being exposed to harsh temperatures for long periods of time (Tribune). This is particularly being seen a lot in the state of Texas. Precautions are being taken by the Biden administration and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott by strengthening enforcement policies (Tribune). 

The topic discussed in the article relates to the textbook because the textbook discusses the population of undocumented immigrates in texas and how "they are subject to deportion if caught by the Border Patrol or Immigration and Customs enforcement (ICE)." It also mentions how states have enacted policies aimed at border security (Champagne et.al. 499). 

Other scholars' also disapprove of the smuggling of migrants and express their concerns. The UNODC says that the smuggling of migrants can be seen as a real global concern and that many countries are affected by it (Kevin Town). Their findings are consistent with the article because they also emphasize how the smuggled migrants are put at risk by the possibility of suffocating in containers (Kevin Town). 

The article finishes by giving information on what happens to the migrants who were being smuggled in accordance with the law. The conclusion of the article is logically consistent with the rest of the article because it gives detail on what happens to the surviving migrants  of the smuggling cases. 

I think that the acts of smuggling are far too dangerous. In the end most migrants don't reach their intended goal because they suffer and die from the conditions they are made to sit through. Though I say this, I still think they're should be easier ways for migrants to become citizens and settle in the U.S so that such precautions aren't taken in the future and the security at the border doesn't have to constantly strengthen and change.
