Choose appropriate accommodations to make a specific reading, writing, English, or math activity/lesson more effective for a student(s) with a general learning disability.

Before you begin, you need to decide on the following:

1) Which subject area will you target: Reading, Writing, English, or Math? Choose ONE of these subject areas only.

2) What grade level will you target (grades prek - 12th grade)? Choose ONE grade level only.

3) Choose an activity or lesson you want to use for this assignment. Include the activity/lesson/lesson url which should take me directly to your activity/lesson. If the url does not work or does not take me to the correct place, then your grade will be a 0, so be sure your url is correct and works appropriately.

You can find an activity/lesson of your choosing or you can look on one of the links below for ideas.

Please remember that many of these lessons and/or activities are not written in the proper lesson planning format and/or may not have measurable objectives/learning outcomes and/or be tied to standards. Don't worry so much about that-find an activity/lesson/lesson you want to use that looks like you can add the types of accommodations required for the assignment.

4)  Write one measurable objective (clear, specific, and measurable-and as learned about in our readings) for your activity/lesson. If your activity/lesson has a measurable objective, then write one additional objective for the lesson/activity. Be sure the objective is for the lesson and the entire class, not just for the included child.

5) Provide the url and the wording and label of the appropriate standard that aligns with your lesson/activity and the learning outcome.

For the standards go to:

Consider that you are targeting multiple children in your inclusive classroom who have a variety of learning disabilities.

You will use the same chart from our assignment with ASD and you will fill it in the same way for this assignment. See the directions from that assignment if you need clarification of any of the columns!

Example Accommodations table(2) (1).docxAccommodations table(5) (2).docxYou will come up with 2 specific accommodations for the lesson you chose.

For the 3th accommodation, you may use a general classroom accommodation. (Remember this is one that could be used for many lessons or in the the classroom overall on a day-to-day basis.) Think about some of the ones we discussed in our ADD Mod. If you use a general classroom accommodation, remember that it still needs to fit into and make sense with your lesson! Not all general classroom accommodations will make sense and work with every lesson. Make sure this is your last accommodation-otherwise it will be graded as inaccurate if you put a general classroom accommodation in Accommodations 1-2.
