Leadership involves leading people and management means having a responsibility not only with people but also with company resources or so. A leader inspires people, it's like that a leader is more like a mentor. A manager reacts to what the people are doing, it's like they are critics. Leaders turn a goal into a reality through inspiring them and helping the individuals think beyond their capabilities and pushing them through their limits. Managers is not like that because they are the one who focuses on achieving goals through controlling the situations. They stick to their system to and does not necessarily give inspirational advice. Also, leaders look for a long term distant goal whereas a managers are focused on short term goals and seek for acknowledgment. Most importantly, leaders does not only appear in business matters but also can be in personal issues and the like compared to managers that are extremely focused on work related matters

A contemporary leader is a leader who uses personal influence to develop and inspire people. Here are some of the contemporary leaders

  • Mahatma Gandhi - I can say that he is a leader because his goals are not focused on work matters but he keeps on inspiring many people of different ages. He is committed to peace, simple living, love and many good principles in life
  • Nelson Mandela - He is also a leader because of his dedication ang patience. He is South Africa's first democratically elected President and from that he promoted a lot of pro people principles. He is not only a politician but also a good human being keeping on inspiring the people around him.
  • Bill Gates - I can also say that he is more of a leader. He encouraged creativity and innovation and that is something that a manager would not necessarily do. He can blend into people of different personalities easily and he is not only focused on short term goals but is focused on long term results.

See, almost most of the contemporary individuals are leaders. Why? because you can be a both manager ang leader because a great leader can embody both characteristics.
