Animals are often used as characters in stories for young students for the following reasons:

• Children find it more humorous when a writer uses animal characters to pass a message or a moral.Writers also use animals to do away with discrimination beliefs on basis of color.
• Since literature of children aids in digging deep on nature and real relationship,the use of animals enable them to have vivid imagination and be more creative .
• Animal character also help in building a gap for plot development for the young students. Using animals makes it less frightening when a writer is moving something that causes fear.
• Animal character help young students to learn hard topics safely since their minds are soft.
• Animal character use helps in compensation of young students helpless role

This break from reality does not cause confusion to young students because majority of animals used are pets and since we live with this animals it easy for a child to learn from them since they interact with them.This helps them to also differentiate facts from fiction.
