How does the parent’s responses compare to the information presented in this chapter? Ask the parent to give you tips for working with children with disabilities in the classroom. Also ask the parent about the language he or she uses to describe his or her child. For example, does the parent prefer the term disability, exceptional, differently abled, developmentally delayed, special needs, at risk, or another term or phrase?
