How migrant prompt xenophobia and racism in receiving countries?

 

It is not a new idea that migrant experience xenophobia and racism in receiving countries. In context, xenophobia is an act in which a particular group of people experience dislike and prejudice from other countries, and racism is a concept in which a certain minority of marginalized groups experience dislike and discrimination due to the fact that they come from these particular groups. But, why does this happen? How do migration prompt xenophobia and racism in receiving countries.

As discriminating as it sounds, receiving countries and its people express xenophobia and racism intentionally and unintentionally pose xenophobia and racism to migrants by allowing them to feel unwelcome and inferior in their country they have transferred in. They tend to judge migrants and think that they are interfering and trespassing their homeland. Because of these, migrants are not allowed to be included in certain groups of people, they are being called names, and are allowed to feel excluded in certain events and groups of people.

The idea of homeland people that these migrants interfere with their territory and right thus allowing them to feel unwelcome is a sign of dominance and ethnocentrism. Ethnocentrism happens when a group of people or culture think highly of their of their own culture thus thinking of others as inferior. This particular concept is also tapped on by migrant towards original people of the land as they adjust to the presence of the new settlers.

Nevertheless and whatever the justification may be, these action should not be tolerated. In contrary, peace, inclusivity, and order should be advocated so that the flourishing of the country can still be maintained.
