Part 1. Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  • Locate the Mission, Vision, and Values statement of an organization of your choice and explain the Vision statement’s importance. Does it seem relevant in today’s environment or is it outdated? Explain your reasoning. What improvements would you recommend for the vision statement?

Part 2. Reply to the following classmate in a minimum of 100 words:

“We all see Tesla vehicles on the road more than what we saw about 10 years ago. They are known for their sustainable energy ecosystem efficient vehicles, solar roofs, powerpacks, powerwall, and new creations (inventions). Their mission statement is “to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.” With technology advancing and improving every day it would be necessary to focus more on how to manufacture products, equipment, etc. that rely more on clean and sustainable energy than fossil fuels as fossil fuels will eventually run out sooner or later. Also, by making them more affordable and accessible to more people than before. Their vision statement is important as they want “to create the most compelling car company of the 21st century by driving the world’s transition to electric vehicles.” Elon Musk vision is to ultimately accomplish the transition into electric cars. This seems relevant to today’s environment due to high fuel cost’s and high emissions that we are encountering. Yes, we love my muscle and sports cars but with the way things are going I doubt we will be able to afford to pay the ridiculous increasing in fuel prices and going electric would be the cheapest way to go due to the affordability of it and its lower costs. Sooner or later car companies are going to have to transition to electric vehicles and with Tesla actually trying to push others to do so will be easier. Reason being is that Tesla encourages others to use its technology to improve it and use it for the advancement of electric car technology. Honestly, I would not recommend any improvements to the vision statement as they make it clear they want all vehicle companies to follow and transition to electric powered vehicles as this is the future for the car industry.” – Moises S.

Part 3. Respond to the following thread in a minimum of 100 words:

“As stated in our readings this week, "A vision captures an organization's aspiration and spells out what it ultimately wants to accomplish." (Rothaermel, 2019) A vision statement is the most important first step because it is meant to inspire and motivate employees into being apart of something that is bigger than themselves. It can be compared to the first building block in creating success.

Amazon has been held corporate advantage over other online companies for many years. Their vision statement is, "to be Earth's most customer centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online." Amazon's mission statement is, "to strive to offer customers the lowest prices possible, the best available selection, and the utmost convenience." (Gregory, 2019) Jeff Bezos himself said that Amazon strives and never waivers from the Four Core Values; customer obsession, long-term thinking, eagerness to invent, and pride in operational excellence. (Gallo, 2021)

The vision statement that Amazon has adopted, and maintained, over the years is one that I believe still resonates with all consumers today. I believe that using the word "Earth" is a great decision because it is all encompassing. This is very relevant to the climate of our world today, that all people should have these opportunities. Amazon is also known to be very customer centric and holds up that statement. I believe that the vision statement does lack inspiration for employees. It is very broad and needs to be more inspiring. I believe that the values do more for employees than the vision statement. It may be wise to incorporate the values into the vision statement to resonate with employees more.” – Jerry F.
