Answer:
In health care facilities, when an emergency buzzer is heard,it indicates that immediate danger to human life is on and that immediate actions should be taken.
In the case of an emergency buzzer when assisting a client in the shower, i would take the following;
- Remain calm and show no signs of tension- so as to keep the client comfortable and prevent him/her from experiencing a shock attack.
- Dress the client- i would dress or even wrap the client with a clothing immediately as i explain to him/her what the emergency buzzer means so that he/she can be prepared psychologically.
- Take the client with me and take the shortest known evacuation route from the location we are in to an emergency exit. If the client is physically disabled, i would take a wheelchair so as to make it easier for the two of us to escape from the emergency area.
- Proceed to the assembly area and stay away from the emergency area so as to avoid collisions of other people escaping from the emergency areas, or in the case off explosion, to avoid building blocks from falling on us.
- Explain to the patient that everything will be okay at the end so as to prevent the patient from experiencing social distress.
