What are the the characteristics of the global climates and biomes of the Sahara ?
Sahara desert is located on African continent and dominated by two climatic system that is the dry subtropical climate at North and dry tropical climate in the Southern region of Sahara. Dry subtropical climate has characteristics that define it that is unusual high annual and diurnal temperature ranges, cold to cool winters, hot summers together with two precipitations on maximums. The dry tropical climate has a strong annual temperature cycle which follow sun declination, also the mild, and dry winters together with hot dry season coming before variable summer rains. Cold Canary Current influence the narrow strip of western coastal zone which has a relatively cool uniform temperatures. Sahara vegetation is pretty sparse where there is scattered concentration of grasses, shrubs and in highland areas there are trees which are located in an oasis and along wadis. Major types of plants in this areas are halophytes which are found in most saline areas, the heat and drought resistant grasses and shrubs. The biome of Sahara has a unique adaptations which are notable that is in the root structure, reproductive strategies, and wide range of physiological structure. Many herbaceous plant`s seeds in the Sahara region can germinate with only three days of adequate rainfall in the region.
