Links are the bridges which can link one web page to another. They serve the website uses as a navigation mechanism and allows them to navigate from one page to another.
Website contains a number of pages and each page holds some content that is relevent for the website. The web page needs to be presented in an appropriate order to the users so that they can uderstand the flow which can inturn help them to use it for the intended purpose.
For Example We have a webiste wich sells products online. In such a website, we can have links which can point to each product category.
Below are the link types-
a) Textlink- These links are basically text based link which points to a web url associated to it. The link just gives user a short description of its purpose.
b) Image link - These links uses images as the hyperlinks. Once the user clicks on the image, the corresponding associae url get clicked and user is navigated to the designated web page.
Links can hurt website's visibility in below ways-
1.If there are too many links, users may feel that the website is spammy and they may start searching out other websites.
2. If there are too many links on a single webpage, users may end up clicking on wrong links which will not help the company business to grow as the user has not clicked on relevent link.
Overlinking- It refers to a situation where a website has numerous number of links or the underlined-texts. This can distract users concentration from doing the actual activity for which they have opened the website. Sometimes, websites prefer too many adds on the content area and as a result users can get irritated.
