The Canadian government is interested exploring and developing trade options with Bangladesh and have invited a delegation from Bangladesh to visit Canada for a few days. The delegations consist of government officials and representatives from business in the areas of finance, tourism, and commodities. On the eve of the arrival the Canadian delegation hosts a dinner party to welcome the Bangladeshi delegation.

The dinner was not a success. Both the Bangladeshis and the Canadians remained relatively uneasy throughout the meal. During the dinner, no welcoming speeches or toasts to mutual health were made. At the end of the meal, the Bangladeshis stood up, thanked the hosts, declined a ride back to their hotel, and left feeling slighted.

The Canadians also felt upset. They found the departure of the Bangladeshis to be very abrupt, yet they did not know what they had done wrong. Despite planning the menu carefully, providing excellent translation services, and extending normal Canadian courtesies, the Canadians knew something had gone wrong; they were worried and somewhat hurt by the lack of rapport.

There are 6 theory (Individualism, Masculinity/Femininity, Indulgence/Restraint, Power Distance, Long-term/Short-term, Orientation, Uncertainty Avoidance )

Pick TWO main theories that caused the dinner to be unsuccessful & state why. Provide at least two concrete strategies per theory that would have improved the outcome.

Two theories that comes to mind as to why the dinner turned out to be unsuccessful is either restraint and uncertainty. Both the Canadians and the Bangladeshis displayed awkwardness and restraint in both conversing and learning.

One of the theories I mentioned-restraint might have been caused by the lack of confidence of both parties in talking about business matters and both are too afraid to touch something sensitive towards each other's culture or line of work. this might have been resolved through being open towards each other and accepting comments if there are any without a heavy heart.

Next theory I mentioned is uncertainty which is somehow similar to restraint but a few areas from the word might also sound different from the other. First, nobody between both parties initiated the talking and discussing. But instead, both ended up with full confusion and restraints. In order to avoid this, both must have had the common sense to make the atmosphere light and then, try to talk friendly and openly but with restrictions. These methods might have saved the awkward dinner and both parties must have had a wonderful time discussing each other's ideas and concerns.
