Mr Reyes has two beakers containing the same solution. Mr. Reyes knows that the solution has Nitrate ions and an unknown cation. He decides to do some tests to identify this cation.
1) In the first beaker, Mr.Reyes adds a strip of Iron metal to the solution and notices some solid forming on the metal.
2) In the second beaker, Mr. Reyes adds a strip of Cobalt metal to the solution and doesn't notice anything happening.
