Research question:

One may wonder about the unknown and the Jellyfish is one species that we know a lot in terms of basis but don’t know anything about when it comes to who they are and what is their nature. It's an organism that exists within the realm of having no eyes, just simply existing and swimming. This comes into question on how do Jellyfish use their upper bodies to swim around, why is it they tend to hurdle up together upside down; initially the question is are Jellyfish efficient swimmers as an individual or community ?

Null Hypothesis:

Jellyfish are able to swim faster when in herds rather than just swimming alone, they guide each other with either chemical communications or tentacle contact.

Alternative Hypothesis:

Jellyfish are simply just swimming to their hearts desire, there is no reason for such behavior, just that this is how they survive its nature overall.

?Design and conduct a research project using focal animal or instantaneous sampling.

?

?Generate questions, hypotheses, methods, collect data, analyze and test your hypotheses and present your results to the class (we’ll talk about the details of these presentations later!).

?

?Your first step: Spend 30 min observing animal behavior, generate a list of questions (at least 10). Pick your 3 favorite questions and generate hypotheses. We’ll workshop these hypotheses next Tuesday; come prepared to discuss your questions and the questions of your classmates.

?All observations are to be done via the live webcams at: explore.org

?

?No domesticated animals; sanctuaries and zoos are fine!

?

?Consider weather conditions and the environment you can see! Incorporate it into your questions if appropriate!
