What impact do you think will flexible work schedules have on (1) employees' commitment to their employers, (2) on employee productivity, and (3) on company effectiveness?
Impacts that flexible work schedules on employees and companies.
Employers gain commitment through the use of flexible work schedules. Giving some control over job schedules provides greater workers' morale, dedication, and commitment to the company (Campbell, 2015). It also decreases the absenteeism, employee turnover, and lateness of staff by freeing employees to work around their homes and family commitments. Moreover, when workers are granted the opportunity to work or operate within their highest productivity hours, they do not wear out and get tired too quickly. Instead, they do quality work with less time by concentrating on the primary outcomes than when working on fixed time and are tired and waiting for closing hours. When employees focus on their most active hours, they can deliver excellent and valuable results. The employees also have a conducive environment where they can operate smoothly, unlike in the office where they are overly crowded and uncomfortable.
Consequently, some employees usually take advantage of the flexible schedule and the freedom to work from their homes. It can be impossible for an individual to concentrate on a professional job and not on domestic tasks and entertainment. This will lead to low-quality work or failure to execute one's duties, which will eventually cost the organization productivity. What's more, the company delivers high-quality work since employees work when they are fresh and not so overworked. Also, it is hard to get quality work since the employees are not under physical supervision, and at times they can deliver low quality work.
