In this Project, you will Combine two Word documents. Be sure to save your completed
file as

after completing the Project Steps and
before submitting your file for grading.
PROJECT STEPS
1.
You are working as an intern at Cortez Accounting, a small accounting firm, and have
been researching the advantages and disadvantages of buying and leasing a vehicle.
Manuel Cortez, the firm's owner, asked you to write a report summarizing your findings.
He has reviewed a draft of the report using tracked changes. You will respond to his
comments and add his revisions to the report to complete it.
Combine documents as follows to incorporate Manuel's revisions and comments into
your copy of the report:
a.
Combine your document (the original document) with the file

[Mac Hint: If prompted, select the file to grant
access.]
b.
Select all the Comparison settings and show changes in the original document.
2.
Turn on Track Changes and display
All Markup
for review. Accept and reject tracked
changes in the document as follows:
a.
Accept each change in the first body paragraph because the changes improve the
paragraph.
b.
In the second body paragraph, reject the change to the text "The choice between
leasing and buying" so that the bold formatting is removed.
c.
Accept the remaining changes in the document, which are also improvements.
3.
On page 2, with Tracked Changes on, apply the
Heading 1
style to the heading
"Executive Summary" because this heading begins a new major topic.
4.
Turn off Track Changes. Read the first comment in the document, and then respond to
Manuel's request as follows:
a.
In the first blank paragraph on page 3, insert a pie chart.
b.
Type the chart data as shown in Figure 1.
c.
Change the chart colors to
Monochromatic Palette 1
.

Read the second comment in the document, and then respond to Manuel's request as
follows:
a.
Open the workbook

In the
Lease and Buy Costs
worksheet, copy the column chart.

Return to the report document, and then move the insertion point to where Manuel
instructs you to insert a column chart comparing the value of a leased, new, and
used car.
d.
Link the chart to the document using the destination theme to keep the chart data
the same in both locations while using the report document's theme.

6.
Modify the linked chart as follows to suit the design of the Word document and to update
data:
a.
In the report document, add
Lease and Buy Costs
as the chart title.
b.
Change the chart style to
Style 6
to emphasize the columns.
c.
Edit the data in the linked chart by changing the value in cell C4 to
7000
to use the
correct number, and then save and close the Excel workbook.
7.
Read the next comment in the document, and then continue editing as follows:
a.
Open the workbook

b.
In the
Payments
worksheet, copy cells A1:C5.
c.
Return to the report document, and then move the insertion point to where Manuel
instructs you to insert the spreadsheet data.
d.
Use
Paste Special
to embed the worksheet selection in the Word document as a
Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object
so that it retains the layout of the original
worksheet. The source data is unlikely to change, so you do not need to link it to
the source file.
e.
Modify the embedded worksheet by formatting the text in row 5 using the
Automatic
font color.
f.
Close

8.
Delete all the comments in the document because they are no longer needed.
9.
On the last page in the document, insert a bookmark to the "Summary" heading using
Comparison
as the bookmark name to make it easy to find the table comparing
payment data.
10.
On page 2, in the paragraph before the "Advantages of Buying" heading, format the word
"spreadsheet" as a hyperlink to the "Comparison" bookmark.
11.
Insert another hyperlink as follows to make it easy for readers to access an external
document:
a.
In the last paragraph in the document, format the text "Finding the Best Car Lease"
as a hyperlink that targets the document

Add a ScreenTip with the following text:
Advice about making a leasing deal
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close
the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your
