Problem analysis therefore involves identifying the overriding problem and establishing the causes and effects related to that problem. A key element of this analysis will ensure that "root causes," not just the symptoms of the problem, are identified and subsequently addressed in the project design.

Cat fishing is a dishonest activity where an individual invent a sock puppet presence on social media targeting particular victim doe fraud or abuse. This practise can also be used for financial gain. An Instagram user uses fabricated identity to convince others believe they are who they portray to be. The cat fisher uses another real person's life facts and pictures to make them look as a real person. In most cases the victim is not aware that their name and picture are being used.

People use cat fishing to make them look as better version of themselves. Other users use cat fishing to test their sexual or gender desires. While others use cat fishing for financial gains. Cat fishing in several occasion has led to kidnapping and murder. The individual using cat fishing can bait a victim to a place to be hurt or kidnapped. Is is also a new method for sexual predators to connect with victims and probably harm them.
