Answer:

Well-being is defined as individual's physical, mental, social, and environmental status that significantly impacts a person's life (Kiefer, 2008). It has been measured in various researches, however may not capture the complexity of its concept. In the present time, mental health has been advocated in schools, workplaces, and everywhere around the world. It highlights the importance of one's psychological well-being specifically during this time of pandemic. The implications of COVID-19 in mental health and well-being had created barriers for those who were already suffering from mental illness. Given the situation, this will highly affect the aging process and the quality of life of the humankind. Quality of life in the next 30-40 years will be affected by the internal and external factors. In the study conducted by Kahana, Kelley-Moore & Kahana (2012), they documented the value of proactive adaptations like exercising and planning for the future and experiences of older adults in facing their aging. Using the Proactivity Model of Successful Aging, older adults were tested in terms of their experiences of normative stressors in aging between the internal and external factors that contribute to their psychological well-being. Findings suggest that  older adults can maintain successful aging despite facing social stressors and health-related issues by dealing with the challenges of aging. Many adults reported specific negative impacts in their well-being such as difficulty in sleeping or eating, increase in alcohol consumption or substance use, and worsening of health conditions due to stress over the pandemic.
