If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and
download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
1.
As a marketing intern for Transaction Motor Works, you are modifying an early
draft of a presentation for first-time car buyers. You will modify the first few
slides and submit the presentation for review before completing it later.
On Slide 1 (“First-time Car Buyer’s Guide”), format the text as follows:
a.
Change the character spacing of the title text object to
Loose
to increase
the spacing between letters.
b.
Change the font of the subtitle text object to
Arial Narrow
to contrast
with the title text.
c.
Change the font color of the text “Transaction Motor Works” to
Pink,
Accent 5, Darker 50%

column, 6
th
row of the Theme Colors palette)
to coordinate with the picture of the car in the title slide graphic.
2.
On Slide 2 (“Questions to contemplate”), convert the bulleted list to SmartArt
using the
Hierarchy List
layout shown in Figure 1 below.

With Slide 2 still displaying, apply the
Moderate Effect
SmartArt style to the
SmartArt.
4.
On Slide 3 (“On the road to a great car”), add and position shapes on the curved
road as follows:
a.
Copy the first pink marker shape on the left, then paste it on the same
slide.
b.
Move the marker shape you just copied so it becomes the fourth marker
on the road, as shown in Figure 2 below. (
Hint
: Zoom in as needed.)
c.
Change the stacking order of the third marker shape so it appears in front
of the curved road.
d.
In the fifth marker shape, group the silver circle with the pink teardrop
shape.

5.
With Slide 3 still displaying, modify the blue car body rectangle shape as follows
to mimic similar shapes on later slides:
a.
Change the weight of the blue car body rectangle outline to
2¼ pt.
b.
Apply
Offset Diagonal Bottom Right
from the Outer section of the
Shadow Shape Effects gallery.
6.
With Slide 3 still displaying, modify the square callout shape as follows:
a.
Change the style of the square callout shape to
Colored Fill – Blue,
Accent 1
.
b.
Apply
Preset 3
from the Preset section of the Shape Effects gallery.
c.
Enter
Budget wisely
in the shape.
d.
Use Smart Guides to position the shape so the callout points to the second
pink marker on the road, as shown in Figure 3 below.

7.
On Slide 4 (“Happy motoring!”), select the blue car body rectangle shape, then
select the sun shape. Merge the two shapes using the
Combine
command.
Refer to Figure 4 on the next page.

8.
On Slide 5 (no title), format the shapes as follows to match other slides in the
presentation:
a.
Rotate the car shape using the
Rotate Left 90

option.
b.
Move the dollar sign shape over the car, using Smart Guides to align the
two shapes as shown in Figure 5 on the next page.

9.
With Slide 5 still displaying, switch to Outline view, then enter text to complete
the slide as follows:
a.
Enter
Make your car run forever
as the slide title.
b.
Enter
Warm up engine
as the first bulleted item.
c.
Enter
Check tires
as the second bulleted item.
d.
Enter
Maintenance
as the third bulleted item.
10.
Add a footer as follows:
a.
Display the
slide number
.
b.
Enter the following text:
Transaction Motor Works
c.
Show the footer on all slides except the title slide. (
Hint
: Use the
Don’t
show on title slide
check box in the Header & Footer dialog box.)
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following
page. Save your changes, close the presentation, then exit PowerPoint. Follow the
directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
