To answer this question and determine if the intervention was successful, one must know if the getting the flu shot decreased an individual’s risk of getting the flu in this patient population, making a quantitative study the best option (Gray, 2019. P. 37-40).

A qualitative approach is the best way to answer the question posed here. Qualitative research is used to describe life experiences and culture by those who are experiencing it. This type of research seeks perspective, allowing for exploration of the complexity of certain phenomena. To answer this question, the researcher must understand the viewpoint of the college students and this information would be best gained in the interview format of a qualitative study. One of the weakness of this type of study is the lack of statistical analysis regarding the given concept (Gray, 2019. P. 62-67).
