PROJECT STEPS

1.

The Norfolk community recently voted to increase funding for the Parks and

Recreation Department. You are developing a presentation to show the public

the kinds of specialty parks Norfolk is considering. Start on Slide 1 by typing

NORFOLK SPECIALTY PARKS

as the slide title.

2.

On Slide 1 (“NORFOLK SPECIALTY PARKS”), type

Unique Outdoor Fun

as the

subtitle.

3.

Add a new Slide 2 using the

Content with Caption

layout. Type

Successful

Parks

as the slide title, and then type

Great attendance

in the text

placeholder on the left below the slide title.

4.

On Slide 2 (“Successful Parks”), in the content placeholder, insert the picture file

Support_NP_PPT16_1b_Skate.jpg

,

available for download from the SAM

website, to illustrate the park.

5.

On Slide 3 (“Frisbee Golf!”), without using a content placeholder, insert the

picture file

Support_NP_PPT16_1b_Frisbee.jpg

,

available for download from

the SAM website, to help the public understand the sport.

6.

With Slide 3 still displaying, format the picture you just inserted as follows:

a.

Resize the picture to a height of

4.5"

.

b.

Crop the picture to a

Trapezoid

shape from the Basic Shapes section of

the Crop to Shape gallery.

c.

Position the picture as shown in Figure 1 below, using Smart Guides to

center and align the top edge of the picture.

In the new content placeholder on the right, type the following text as a

bulleted list:

Bold

the text.

9.

With Slide 5 still displaying, use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from

the text “Grants for lighting” to the text “Dawn to dusk”.

10.

Delete Slide 6 (“Why Community Parks Are Important”) because the same

information appears on other slides.

11.

Return to Slide 5 (“Day and Night Use”), copy the text “Grants”, and then paste

it in the text placeholder on the new Slide 6 (“How the Parks Are Funded”) to

provide the missing heading.

12.

On Slide 7 (“Why Parks Matter”), create a SmartArt graphic as follows:

a

Convert the bulleted list to a SmartArt graphic using the

Basic Cycle

Cycle Layout shown below.

b

In the bottom segment, change the text “Open areas” to

Green space

.

(

b.

In the content placeholder on the left, enter the following multi-level

bulleted list:

14.

Move Slide 9 (“Your Norfolk Specialty Parks Team”) so it becomes Slide 10, the

last slide in the presentation.

errors. (

proper nouns.)

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure below. Save your

changes, close the presentation, and then exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the
