INSERTING OBJECTS IN A PRESENTATION

GETTING STARTED

• Open the file IL_PPT16_3a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
• Save the file as IL_PPT16_3a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
  • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
• To complete this Project, you will also need to download and save the following support files from the SAM website:
  • Support_IL_PPT16_3a_Caramel.jpg
  • Support_IL_PPT16_3a_Outline.rtf
  • Support_IL_PPT16_3a_Cause.pptx
• With the file IL_PPT16_3a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
  • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS

1. As a sales assistant for Chattanooga Chocolatier, you are helping the owners prepare a business plan presentation for bankers. On Slide 1 (“Chattanooga Chocolatier”), improve the clarity of the picture by applying the Sharpen: 50% correction.
2. On Slide 2 (“Executive Summary”), crop the picture from the left as shown in Figure 1 on the next page.

3. With Slide 2 still displaying, use the content placeholder on the right to insert the picture from the file Support_IL_PPT16_3a_Caramel.jpg, available for download from the SAM website.
4. On Slide 3 (“Company Facts”), apply the Beveled Oval, Black picture style to the picture of the chocolates and pink ribbon.
5. On Slide 4 (“Projections”), use the content placeholder to insert a Clustered Column chart with the data shown in Table 1 below.

6. With Slide 4 still displaying, modify the chart as follows:
   1. Enter the text Projections (in thousands) in the chart title.
   2. Change the chart style to Style 11.
7. With Slide 4 still displaying, insert and format a text box as follows:
   1. Insert a text box with the following text:

The company will maintain a positive cash balance for Year 1.

1. 2. Change the shape fill color to Orange, Accent 1, Lighter 80% (5^th column, 2^nd row of the Theme Colors palette).
   3. Change the shape outline color to Dark Red, Accent 2 (6^th column, 1^st row of the Theme Colors palette).
   4. Resize the text box so the text appears on three lines as shown in Figure 2 below.
   5. Use Smart Guides to move the text box to the location shown in Figure 2 below.

8. On Slide 5 (“Management”), use the content placeholder to insert a table with two columns and five rows and the data shown in Table 2 below.
