Some may argue that leadership is not necessary. What are some important reasons for having leaders in organizations?

 

Leaders play an essential role in organizations in that they:

(i). Bring change to the organization; this helps the organization to grow at a sustainable rate since it does not get stuck in a rut. leaders reinforce the beliefs and values upon which the organization was built by adopting those beliefs and values in their daily actions.

(ii). Refine the skills of members of the organization; they ensure that all the members get the best training and development. This in turn serves to increase the profits of the organization since member is adequately trained.

(iii). Inspire morale among members of the organization; this motivates the members to work even harder, bearing in mind the benefits that come with it.

(iv). Ensure the needed resources and support are available; employees within the organization will therefore be able to perform their given tasks without encountering unnecessary challenges.

(v). Ensure effective communication; this includes big decisions that have been made such as introduction of new strategies, in order to reduce the risk of miscommunication. They ensure the information reaches every member of the organization through different communication channels.

(vi). Foster unity and promote an organic operation of the organization. They encourage  input from team members in the development of well-defined objectives. Consequently, the team as a whole is invested in their work. The outcome is usually improved results.

(vii). Help employees in fulfilling their needs; they establish personal relationships with organizational members and attempt to meet their requirements, and in turn they perform with complete dedication.
