Step-by-step explanation

Mirages occur while the land is heated and the air is cold. The hot earth heats an atmospheric layer slightly overground. As light passes from cool air through the warm air sheet, it is refracted.

A warm film of air near the earth almost refracts light from above through a bend, and Our mind assumes that the light was not bent and traveled in a straight line.  Our brain doesn't perceive the Image was formed and twisted from the sky. Rather, our mind assumes light may have originated from an object on the land. 

The light is refracted as it travels from colder air to warmer. The mind hoaxes an individual into assuming the bent light took a straight course, and as human nature dictates, a person follows the field of view that the eye can see. 

Therefore this phenomenon results in several mirages appearing as blue water. We, therefore, assume that we happened to come across an oasis when we see a glistening image similar to a blue sky.
