Explain the three major sociological perspectives of functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Identify which perspectives use a macrolevel or a microlevel of analysis. Apply each perspective to either the family or education.

 

• The functionalist perspective views society as as complex system that work together to promote solidarity and stability. This approach uses a macro level orientation. It focuses on social structures that shape the society as a whole and focuses on social structures that shape the society as a whole. Functionality addresses the society in terms of norms, customs, traditions and institutions. It views them as essential parts of the society that contribute to the average .In family for example , gender roles varies in family members for example, women take care of homes and men provide for the family this roles will contribute to the whole society in general.
• Conflict theory states that a society is in a continuous conflict due to competition of for limited resources . In this theory , social order is maintained by domination and power instead of conformity . Those with wealth and power hold to it by any way suppressing the poor and powerless therefore individuals in the society will work harder to maintain their power and wealth. The conflict theory uses macro analysis.

in Family perspective the conflict theory can help solve and understand domestic violence that is associated by wealth and power and competition for resources.

• Symbolic interactionism focuses on relationships within a society .communication which is the exchange of meaning through language and symbol is the way people make changes in the social world. Humans interact with things according to the meaning attached to those things. for example, if you love cars a symbolic interaction might have purposed you to learn about cars and love them for example attending car events, having a family car growing up. The symbolic interactionism is a micro level theory. In family, symbolic interactionism suggest that activities help build emotional bonds that family and marriage relationships are based on and negotiated .Symbolic rituals like family meals and holiday increase relationship bonding.
