Contemporary Elements   Analysis of the contemporary world is primarily an act of translation and when applicable should primarily do the following: Identify elements that are universal (what is common to human nature regardless of time, space and culture) Identify features of original culture that are the same or are very similar to features of our culture Identify differences between biblical culture and contemporary culture, while identifying underlying values or principles from original culture that could be applied to our culture with some modification Identify where the bible might not be speaking to us, or where its word to us is ambivalent due to differences in culture
