List and fully discuss three root causes of the The French Revolution.
The French Revolution was a revolutionary movement that shook France over the periods between 1787 and 1799. This revolution denoted the end of the ancient regime in France. This event served to distinguish that event from the last French's revolutions of 1830 and 1848. Below is my discussion about the French Revolution.
Step-by-step explanation
The root causes of the French Revolution included;
(a) Economic hardship
(b) Political conflict
(c)The Enlightenment
(a) Economic hardship
The issue of economic hardship derives its causes from the Agrarian crisis. This included the harvest failures, food shortages and high prices for foods like bread. Again, the economic condition of France became poor due to the foreign wars of Louis XIV the seven year war of Louis XV among other expensive wars which drained the economy of France.
(b) Political conflict
The question how political conflict formed the cause the French Revolution is answered by the existence of the monarchy and the nobility class. Conflict existed between these two groups over the reform of the tax system an issue that led to paralysis and bankruptcy (Doyle, 1999). It is during this time when the monarchy had unlimited power and they regarded themselves as the "Representatives of God".
(c)The Enlightenment
The ideas of enlightenment had a very critical impact in during this era. The enlightenment emphasized the rights of common men as opposed to the exclusive rights of the elites. As a result, they had the foundation for modern, rational and democratic societies laid.
