The framers of the Constitution designed the Senate to filter the output of the sometimes hasty House. Do you think this was a wise idea? Why or why not? 

 

It was a wise idea for the framer of the constitution to design the senate to filter output of a hasty house. During the time of constitution framing and implementation, the state were viewed in a more independent way in comparison to todays. The senate offered for the convergent and the meeting of the various state as equals. Also, one factor that need to be considered in on how the state was usually chosen by the state legislatures and not directly by the voters. This would obviously mean elite power and controls which made a hasty house. The legislators in this case would go for competent statement and leave behind the common voting citizen. Additionally, the rule that gave the six term was primarily set to insulate the senators and set up the senate as a place of conscience and reason rather than the choice of the people that was made after every two years,. The hasty house was made to provide and enhance continuity though the use of the six term so as to deal with inconsistency in swapping the senate after every two years. The idea was therefore good for its time and formed the basis in which the constitution was compromised to get the states to make several rectification of the constitution
