Two light bulbs are 2.0 m apart.
From what distance can these light bulbs be marginally resolved by a small telescope with a 5.0 cm- diameter objective lens? Assume that the lens is limited only by diffraction and \lambda = 600 nm
D = diameter of the telescope
d = distance between light bulbs
L = distance from telescope to light bulbs
--------------------------------------------------
Raily's diffraction:
θ = 1.22λ/D = 1.22*600e-9/0.05 = 1.464e-5 rad
L = d/θ = 2.0/1.464e-5 = 1.37 * 10^5 m
