Apply SOAPSTone (Speaker, Occasion, Audience, Purpose, Subject, Tone) to the Charter of the United Nations. I only need a brief explanation for each point.

 

Speaker: The speaker of the Charter of the United Nations is the peoples of the United Nations, collectively. Basically, the states/countries/parties included in the United Nations.

Occasion: It was signed in San Francisco, dated 26th of June, 1945 at the conclusion of the United Nations Conference on International Organization, and came into force on the 24th of October, same year.

Audience: It is intended primarily for the organization and the members of the United Nations, and secondarily, to all other countries/states who are not yet members, since it is open for peace-loving states which accept the obligations contained in the present Charter.

Purpose: Its purpose is to serve as a treaty for the U.N. to maintain international peace and security, promote social progress and better standards of life, strengthen international law, and promote the expansion of human rights.

Subject: It is a foundational treaty of the United Nations. A general call for the maintenance of peace and international security and respect for human rights, and a declaration in a contractual style that the governments of the peoples of the United Nations have agreed to the Charter.

Tone: It falls under a formal, sincere, and serious tone/choice of words, especially that it is a treaty. It contains crucial and relevant pieces of information that is collectively known to the organization and its members which they all mutually agreed upon.
