Describe one way in which the powers granted to Congress under the Articles caused problems for the young republic.
The only powers and jurisdiction offered to the congress to only deal with foreign affairs and concern. For this reason, the congress failed to aid the overall unity of the country and deal with the national concern of the young republic. The lack of powers by the congress in such core areas as economic influence and decisions meant that the congress had no power in regulating the economy. This lead to the establishment and the use of weak economic systems and hence a great concern to the young republic. The powers granted to the congress did not directly have influence in the core concerns of the economy as the powers majorly focused on foreign and international affairs. Even though the economy was developing weakness that pointed at future risk of the economy, congress did not have any substantial influence on legislation that dealt directly to the economy. The congress was therefore unable to control the commerce between the foreign nation and America as it lacked authority and power. In this way, it made it impossible to protect the trade between America and the various foreign nations and hence could not help the young republic.
