Colligative Properties

Follow the directions in the lab write up. Record the requested data below to submit for your lab. Only report the information asked for. Do NOT add rows to the data tables.

Data Table 1. Dialysis Tubing Results or Egg results (6pts)

Questions (4pts)

A. In your experiment, is the light corn syrup in the dialysis tubing (or outside the egg) hypertonic or hypotonic? Explain your reasoning.

Hypertonic because the corn syrup gained the mass over the given time as we can see in Table 1.

Exercise 2: Freezing Point

Data Table 2. Temperature Readings for Freezing Point. (10pts) **Remember your sig figs!

Questions (4pts)

A. Compare the three boiling points. Is there a relationship between the amount of solute in the solution and the boiling temperature? Compare the three freezing points. Is there a relationship there between the amount of solute in the solution and the freezing temperature? Write 1 conclusion sentence to sum it all up.

When more solute is added it increased the boiling temperature of the solution where in freezing point when more solute is added, the colder the temperature got as time passes.
