It uses Egypt as an example because of the severe threats the country is facing. Egypt has reduced access to natural resources, and the increasing size of the population is also a significant challenge in its quest to create a self-sustaining ecosystem. However, until now, there are no clear regulations for eco-city construction and design. For this reason, this article purposes to identify hidden potential by exploring successful private programs for current eco-communities in the country. The article used an analytical methodology in tackling various aspects such as permaculture, renewable energy, eco-sanitation, solid waste management, green transportation, vernacular architecture, and green economy. The research is significant since through the evaluation of such concepts, it is possible for architectural designers to create the space required to establish a self-sustaining ecosystem. The researchers concluded the article by stating strategies and recommendations to achieve sustainable architecture concerning socially enriched and resilient zero-carbon cities.
