The City of somewhere alongside with its partners, Texas Municipal League (TML) and Deer Oaks Employee Assistance program (EAP) are committed to providing employees the tools needed to achieve their healthy goals.

OVERVIEW

Lifestyle choices, environmental stresses, access to and appropriate utilization of quality healthcare services and human biology are the general determinants of good health. Good health can be maintained; apparently it can also be interfered with. In case of poor health it can be corrected through the implementing appropriate products, services and application of wellness information. Employee productivity and quality life of an individual are signs of healthy lifestyle. This is evident in that healthy employees require fewer days off and reduce the cost of health insurance. The message of the dos and don’ts in order to be healthy are seen everywhere. Our goal being providing resources for employees that are looking for sensible ways to incorporate a series of changes to improve overall health.

INTRODUCTION

Living a healthy life you and the members of your family is very essential to the society. The society is at the front line venturing in the health of its employees by providing wellness programs. The wellness programs are key in promoting healthy lifestyle choices. All the employees across the line are motivated to take part in these programs. The city of somewhere makes these programs accessible to the employees by offering the awareness to wellness! Program. The programs are mandated to serve as role model for the community, lower the cost of health care and to ensure a better quality of life for all participants.

 

OBJECTIVES

Improve the overall health, physical and mental wellness of the city of some where’s workforce.

Forster positive employee morale andrelationship.

Reduce health care costs for employees and the city of somewhere.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS CALENDER OF EVENTS

The quarterly wellness information programs will be held during the fall, winter and spring. Those involved will have to bring their own lunch, teachings about current wellness topics will be held by a local medical professional.

REGISTRATION

One must complete a registration form and hand it to be the human Resource to take part in the program. Incentive programs are only open to the city employees who would have registered for the program. In this incentive programs the employees will be credited through gift certificates, prizes, participation points and time off.

Awareness to wellness: scorecard-employees will be given prizes once they achieve points. The prizes will include; gym bags, water bottles, pedometers, MP3 players e.t.c.

Wellness Employee of the Quarter:-The quarter will be selected by the Wellness Committee. The winners will have a ½ day off with pay. The soon-to-be coveted award will be given to employees who: actively participation in the program and experience important personal success such as; quitting smoking, weight loss and improved physical conditions.

AWARENESS TO WELLNESS! Scorecard

There is more for one to be healthy apart from exercise and diet. The Awareness to Wellness! Scorecard takes a frontline in that it motivates employees to improve sleep, drink water, manage stress, take care of themselves and schedule daily quiet times. Participation and completing their scorecard will the means which the employees will earn points. The points are earned on participation; they are self-reported and are submitted quarterly.

Professional Health Coaches

City of somewhere Employees are legible to the Personal Health Coaches. The employees can easily access the service by calling 1-888-818-2822 and calling the number on their ID card. The doctor/patient relationship is highly considered in the professional health coaches. Health coaching is an addition to someone’s provider’s care rather than a replacement or substitution.

ROLES OF THE HEALTH COACH

To assess health habits, and to assist employees in identifying and setting a health goal

To assess readiness to change and provide necessary information, guidance, and support move forward in meeting health goals.

To help employees follow their physician's plan of care such as to taking medications correctly, keeping follow?up appointments as scheduled, and being comfortable with asking questions.

To provide employees with educational materials

To assess health habits by completing the Health Power Assessment and/or the Wheel of Life, which are tools to assist employees in identifying and setting a health goal?
