How did the interaction work between the Chinese and Europeans in the 1500's? Who saw the most benefit from the relationship? How do you think European interactions back then effect present day relationships with China and the other countries the Europeans encountered during this time?

The relationship between China and Europe was so close that they traded with other for long. Between 1500 and 1800, Europe produced like 85 percent of the world silver and like 40 percent of that silver ended up being exported to china and in return they traded back with goods. The Chinese needed more silver which was their money supply. However, it reached a point where Europeans stopped shipping their silver to China and replaced their export with opium. During this era the Mexican peso became popular in that it became the standard coin to most parts of the world. And through this the coin become so popular with Chinese people and its demand and price increased.

Dutch people saw this as an opportunity and decided to produce their own coins with the image of the dead Spanish king to be in Chinese market.

China benefited most from this relationship, this is because Europe imported all of its manufactured goods from china to avoid the British style of diplomatic relationship.

The relationship of China­-Europe is still strong even today and Europe is the china's largest trading partner. The way the two nations respond to each other after having difference of opinions and interests is not the same as the implications that were seeing when the two nations collide with other nations.
