Listed below are two types of innovative healthcare services under consideration for purchase and integration in this organization. Analysis of the two types of innovation under consideration for purchase. The primary objective is to select the innovation to serve the needs of the local community best.
analysis report of the two innovations in a Word document, including the following:
With due consideration of the hospital's organizational structure and services and the community's demographics, I believe that the innovation that will most likely address the needs of the community and will consequently produce better impact is the Virtual Sitter Service. A Virtual Sitter Service is a commonly employed practice of most hospitals worldwide that involves the hiring non-clinical staff to provide in-room monitoring to patients at high risk for falls, injuries, or other types of perilous events. If we look at the current community demographics, the average age of the people living in the area is 64.2 years old. Furthermore, 60% of the population are retired individuals. With these data alone, we can say that the Virtual Sitter Service would be more beneficial than the Tele-Wound Consulting Service. Elderly individuals, due to their frailness, are more vulnerable to falls and other injuries. Having a round-the-clock service that will look out for them will help reduce these uneventful circumstances and will therefore improve the well-being and the quality of life of these individuals. The addition of this service will truly improve patient outcomes.
On the organization side, employing this innovation will improve organizational efficiency. Although the hospital may have an adequate number of staff, relieving them of the important responsibility to look out for patients will help improve hospital efficiency. Physicians, nurses and other hospital staff will have more time to devote to other areas of patient care. This will translate to even better patient satisfaction and will contribute to improved patient outcomes. The hospital staff will also experience lesser task burden and will be able to deliver better services to the patients. This will, in turn, translate to superior employee satisfaction.
Cost and training for this innovation will also not be that extensive compared to the other proposal. The employment of non-clinical staff will be cost-efficient as compared to employing doctors and nurses who will do tele-wound consulting. In fact, the hospital staff whose job functions have been relieved of looking after patient safety might be able to deliver better wound care services. The innovation will also prove to be sustainable as it will improve the organization's efficiency while still being anchored the organization's mission which is to improve the health, lives, and well-being of the people in the community they serve.
The projected impact to the organization and community of this initiative will be huge. Not only will the innovation be of direct help to the community, it will also be a improve the hospital's efficiency, finances and service delivery.
