A narrative proposal, which includes: A description of how the grant funds will be used. An explanation or overview of planned lessons/activities that clearly demonstrate how the items will be used effectively in the classroom and how they will promote active student learning. Include the subject/grade-level standards that are fulfilled in the lesson or project. (3rd grade).
Please write how the money would help the classroom such as buying hands-on material for Math and Langauge Arts as well as tools like IXL. Write about how it would benefit the students in the classroom. The school does not have a library, so teacher will use the money also to buy books and other materials to improve students reading skills.
Before I begin to propose for this grant , I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the ICNA Relief for creating the Empower grant for educators to make sure that students have the tools they need to ensure successful application of necessary curriculum, especially during this very difficult time. Although school is back in normal session, it is still very difficult for teachers and students to get back to normal learning style. Students showed a lot of learning loss experience due to the pandemic. My name is ________ and I am an Elementary school teacher. I have a bachelor in Education and graduated from PFW in 2019. This is my third year of teaching at__________________. I taught Grade 2 for 3 straight years and currently teach wonderful and marvelous 35 students of grade 2. I feel very fortunate to work with __________ school. The school provides me the opportunity to learn and grow at the same time. However, as a new school, we lack so many resources that should be available to students. It is very unfortunate that the classrooms lack hands-on learning materials for every subject such as Math, Language Arts, Science, and Physical Activities, and even for Social Building. The addition of proper learning materials and tools, teachers can keep students engaged and enhance their learning and social skills. Fortunately, with the help of the Empower grant, it will be a great opportunity for me to promote active students learning whether it is in class or outside of the classroom. The school does not have a library for students to go read or check out books because all the spaces were being used for the classroom. Therefore, the grant will be used in building the classroom library for students to read and improve their reading skill by providing books that students can read in the classroom and outside the classroom. I have a really small classroom library. The books were purchased out of pocket by me. I would like to provide students with more books that they can read based on their readinginstructional levels. Students' reading levels are different and varied from one student to another, and it is important that we have books in every level for students to read so no child will be left out. As part of the Second grade Math standard, Indiana state required teachers to teach: • • • • • • ? ? ? ? ? ? Number sense (Standard: 2.NS.1-2.NS.7) Add and subtract within 1000 (2.CA.1- 2.CA.7) Measurements (Standard: 2.M.1-2.M.5) Geometry ( Standard: 2.G.1-2.G.5) Telling time (Standard: 2.M.5-2.M.6) Money (Standard: 2.M.7) This grant will also be used toward math hands-on learning manipulations such as place-value blocks, for learning place-value and understanding numbers, connecting cubes. Number lines for learning addition and subtraction. Student edition clocks for learning time. Scale, meter, and yardsticks for learning about measurement and also fake money and coins when students learn about money. The classroom is also in need of phonics learning materials that will help students practice their phonic skills. Examples of materials are letter tiles, game boards, vowels game sets, flashcards, sentence strips, dry-erase white-boards, puzzles, and sentence building cubes. These materials are great for struggling learners and also for advanced learners in the class to be able to use materials that best fits their levels. In addition to hands-on manipulatives, I would also love to purchase IXL for the class. This program combines curriculum such as math, language arts, science, and social studies, Continuous Diagnostic, individual guidance, and real-time analytics to help teachers differentiate instruction for each of the students. In the past, I used a free trial for students to utilize in the classroom, but we were able to use it only for 30 days. During the 30 days of the trial, students showed growth and engagement in learning. IXL provides skills and drills that relate to what students learn as part of the curriculum. The program itself is very expensive to purchase which causes the loss in the use of it. With the hope of grant opportunities, I would love the class to have the chance to use the ixl throughout the year. When the classroom has resources that we need to meet the standards of the curriculum, it makes learning smoother and more engaging for students. Without practical learning materials, students will lack the importance of hand-on learning experiences and will not be able to connect what they are learning with real-life, as students' learning styles are unique. As an educator, it is very crucial for us to provide the necessary resources we possibly can to enhance students' learning and become successful learners. All these items will be used effectively in the classroom to promote active student learning. With the generosity of the Empower grant, the best learning experiences will take place at the International Leadership school. Please see below for attached pictures.
ICNA Relief Grant Proposal
The Grant Proposal
I feel honoured to have the chance to write this grant proposal, which is meant to better the lives of many students.
Description of the Funds' Allocation
The school lacks various materials which are critical to the students as outlined below. Apart from the learning materials required in a class, there are materials which students use to enhance their social skills.
Overview of The Lesson plans/Activities
As a third grade teacher, the major learning materials that I would require for the mathematics lesson would include a weight scale, pan, place value cubes, colour cubes, colour counters, tiles, hands-on shapes, fraction tools, analogue clock, counters for measurement, scale, bowl, fraction tools.
With the assistance of the ICNA Relief, the students and teachers will have an easier way to learn and improve on their grades and social skills. We are optimistic that, with the financial help granted to us, we will purchase the above resources making, making learning engaging for the students and increasing the ability to connect with real-life situations.
The Grant Proposal
I feel honoured to have the chance to write this grant proposal, which is meant to better the lives of many students. I appreciate the ICNA relief for the efforts made to ensure students and teachers can access the relevant learning materials required by the curriculum. Many students have not been able to resume learning as they lack the basic materials needed to facilitate their learning, making it more difficult for educators to facilitate efficient teaching in the class.
I am an elementary school teacher, and my name is ___________. I am a well-trained teacher from PPW and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. I have been a teacher in _____________ School, teaching Grade 3 for the last four years. I understand all the needs of my students due to the experience gained hence the reason am writing the grant proposal for my 26 students.
Description of the Funds' Allocation
The school lacks various materials which are critical to the students as outlined below. Apart from the learning materials required in a class, there are materials which students use to enhance their social skills. Some of the concepts required to be learned in Grade 3 include the addition and subtraction of numbers, measurements, Reading time and number sense.
The students use the weight scale to explain the weights of different bodies, especially using a balance beam. Students require to understand that different objects have different weights depending on the size of the object. The pans are used to place objects on a beam balance; two different objects are placed on either side of the pans; hence students can compare the weights by reducing the size of the objects from either side of the pan. The place value cubes are very important to students, especially when they need to understand the place value of each number. Through the use of place value cubes, children in grade 3 play a game hence in a position to learning how to place the value of numbers in ones and tens. The game has 24 cards printed with ten cubes and rods. Children learn to fill the numbers in each card according to the card's description, and even the card bottom has a question which the child is supposed to answer. The colour cubes are cubes composed of different colours, and students can use them to understand patterns and can also be used in learning algebra. The colour cubes connect in appointing sides; hence students require to note the corresponded. Teachers can also use colour cubes to ensure that students understand fractions easier and better. The colour counters are used in class to help the students understand the concepts of counting, sorting, help students understand patterns in subtraction and addition in either groups or individuals. Students get the ability to connect mathematical concepts and colour circles with the use of colour counters. Tiles help students understand certain patterns in addition or subtraction of a certain number and multiplication following a certain pattern. The hands-on shapes help students understand the place value concepts, measurements and regrouping addition and subtraction. The analogue clock helps students to be able to read the time on their own. Students use a scale to measure the length and other parameters; hence students can understand measurements better.
For the Language Arts, I would require this material to improve Students Phonic skills, puppets, sound boxes, and an Alphabet ball. For the phonic skills, I would require puppets to help students read out some words to find the learning more enjoyable and engaging. I would need sound boxes to help students, as the students listen to a word and move a certain token to the box from which the token sounds familiar. An alphabet ball would help students enjoy learning more words from each alphabet, as the alphabet ball requires a student to respond using a certain letter.
The outlined materials would be required mostly for classes and lessons. I have bought some materials such as wall clocks, fraction tools, colour cubes and some books through I would appreciate additional support on the same. In addition, the school also lacks a library where students can visit and read materials regarding their classwork or their areas of interest. Some of the money granted will be used to buy mathematics and Arts books since students require extra textbooks to refer to after the classwork. I am also planning to buy IXL for the students as this would help me as the teacher handle each student as an individual, improving learning and engagement in class.
With the assistance of the ICNA Relief, the students and teachers will have an easier way to learn and improve on their grades and social skills. We are optimistic that, with the financial help granted to us, we will purchase the above resources making, making learning engaging for the students and increasing the ability to connect with real-life situations.
