A qualitative question I am interested in researching is the impact of adaptive supports in the quality of life of those living with varying disabilities. When discussing the importance of qualitative research this contrasts to the statistical or numerical findings from a quantitative analysis and instead has a focus on the meaning of the researched topic. Qualitative data regards learning about the how or why something is reoccurring or even in the nursing perspective, discovering a different viewpoint on cultural aspects of nursing or in health practice (Schmidt & Brown, 2017). Characteristics of qualitative research include collecting data which can be through interview, observation or through written documentation, understanding sampling which is more so geared to knowing the involved participants in the study or referred people involved, analyzing or interpreting data while it is being collected or through a term called, "memoing," to identify the data that is within their time of being recorded, and evaluation to be deemed credible, dependable or confirmable through the use of open-ended questions that are not misleading, and learning of the other resources of data that can be referenced or transferrable (Schmidt & Brown, 2017).
The four types of qualitative research include phenomenological, grounded theory, ethnography and historical (Schmidt & Brown, 2017). Out of all of the four, the one related to the research question is phenomenology due to the extent of studying the “lived experience” and the relationship of the human sciences (Schmidt & Brown, 2017). Knowing of the history of a person or event while also examining the
“meaning of being” can be influential on understanding more on the quality of life (Schmidt & Brown, 2017). Although this may differ among other people’s perspectives in the study, it will be helpful for nurses to acquire information on experiences of particular individuals and people who have undergone different events when discussing the role of adaptive sports, their own journey from the time of injury or having been born with a disability.

Among the low-income youths, what behaviors and attitudes increase their nicotine dependence compared to their higher-income counterparts?
Characteristics of Qualitative Research
A qualitative research method is unique because it is subjective and focuses on finding insights about the subject matter using the perspectives of participants in their natural habitat. According to Vashishta (2019), a qualitative research method is subjective and facilitates a researcher to understand human behaviors in certain situations using non-numerical data.
Components of Qualitative Research
Importantly, three critical components of qualitative designs help to maintain the subjectivity of the study. According to Vashishta (2019), qualitative research uses a methodology designed to understand the lives of the participants and safeguards to maintain the neutrality of an observer. An observer must avoid placing judgment or biases during the data collection or observation process. Another component of qualitative research is the focus areas of cultures, individuals, and societies (Vashishta, 2019).
Four Types of Qualitative Designs
(1). Ethnography- is a popular design that involves a researcher embedding into the daily life of the subject matters as an active participant or an observer. The aim is to experience the customs, traditions, mannerisms, or reactions to a situation first-hand (Vashishta, 2019).
(2). Narrative- involves two or more participants to facilitates a researcher collect data or facts using interviews and document the findings over time.
(3). Phenomenology- studies an event or activity as it happens from myriad angles to achieve comprehensive perspectives from the participants (Vashishta, 2019). Videos, interviews, and on-site visits help to capture information that expands the existing perspectives about the event or activity.
(4). Grounded theory- start with a question or collection of data to identify the repetitive ideas or elements that can be coded together (Vashishta, 2019). The design helps to identify new theories about an issue.
Appropriate Type of Question
the narrative type of qualitative method is the most ideal approach to use in the research question. In a narrative design, 15 participants drawn from the low-income and high-income categories as well as with nicotine dependency will be interviewed about their perspectives on what attitudes or behaviors increase their risk of tobacco-use addiction.
