Abby Olena wrote the news article I am researching in February 2021. In this article, questions have been raised on how the ancient Hominin moved in the past. The species discussed in this article is the “Ardipithecus ramidus, which lived approximately 4.4 million years ago” (Olena, 2021). The species is believed to have moved through trees over the tops of branches and swinging beneath the tree branches just like the chimpanzees known as Pan troglodytes are currently moving. The fossil made the news because anthropologists never imagined that an Ardipithecus would look like an ape. Therefore, it was shocking news. This news is important because the study will contribute to new fossil evidence that early human ancestors and the last common human and chimpanzees’ ancestor were similar to chimpanzees to other living primates (Olena, 2021).
