Employee Involvement Interventions
High-involvement organizations resonate with my personal management and organizational development philosophy. According to Cummings & Worley (2014), High-involvement organizations’ employees are highly considered in decision making process. They receive extensive training on different problem-solving strategies, organizational policies and plant operation. The organizations make it easy for employees to receive operational and issue-oriented information and ensure employees are rewarded depending on unit performance, knowledge and skill levels.
On the contrary, Total quality management (TQM) focuses on quality control and looks into long-term efforts that positions all organization’s operations within the concept of quality by ensuring products produced meets required standards and customers’ expectations(Cummings, & Worley, 2014). This way, employee participation is encouraged. A parallel structure involves employees solving complex problems, developing adaptability into a bureaucratic organization, and operates with formal organizations. It focuses on solving problems by providing resources and time to members to ensure that they act differently (Cummings & Worley, 2014).
