APRNs are nurses that have attained advanced educational and clinical requirements of practice. The APRNs are often engaged in the provision of care services to the community. Question 3
Cultural competence is essential in providing health care to different patients from different ethnicity as they hold differing beliefs, values, and morals (Demir, et al., 2017). Therefore, awareness of the diverse cultural practices as a healthcare provider helps significantly improve the overall outcomes of the patient's health conditions. Also through the competency, the healthcare team gains an ethical understanding and respect from the patients widely. It hence motivates the overall community in the participation of the promotion of health care. Cultural competency is critically guided by the awareness and the acknowledgment of the various practices culturally in the globe, recognition of oneself and the rest of the individuals globally and also the acquisition of the different skills from the various cultures is equally essential to enhance the promotion of the health conditions of the individuals in the diversity. In my opinion, there are multiple factors adequately contribute to the barriers to a healthy lifestyle, some of the influences are culturally based while others result from the socioeconomic factors, among other issues. These include, from the culture, the ethnic background, as a result of discrimination from access to better and quality health care. Among the social-economic factors barring the African Americans from access to better health conditions include the employment cases which have affected the income capacities to access the medical care in the health facilities. Moreover, due to lack of adequate income levels, the group faces a hard time accessing checkup clinics to evaluate the health condition and hence a lack of awareness on healthy living and preventive measures to control the situations. In addition to the above factors, the sociopolitical factors contribute largely to the access of medical care to African Americans through the limited health care supply to the minority groups is the financial funding for the quality medical care among the community.
