In your first assignment, you conducted a research analysis of the company and proposed strategic solutions to the CEO. As you continue your consulting role, the next task is to deliver a professional development program to the CEO of your chosen organization.

It is important that your program's proposal be based on your research of emotional intelligence (EI) and specifically details how a new incentive program, based on an EI management approach, will:

  • Foster teamwork.
  • Strengthen interpersonal relationships.
  • Enhance communication.
  • Increase overall performance.
  • Benefit not only managers but the bottom-line.

BUS520: Leadership and Organizational Behavior Dr. Wanda Tillman August 1, 2021 1 ORGANIZATIONAL ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS 2 Chick-fil-A Supply Chain Chick-fil-A is a fast-food restaurant specializing in the sale of chicken products in the United States of America. The restaurant has a huge customer base and is available in more than forty-three states in the country. The business is service-oriented in that it emphasizes offering fast foods to its customer either by delivering them to the customers or over-the-counter sales. They are dedicated to customer satisfaction as well as corporate social responsibility (Mehra & Coleman, 2016). The business is currently facing supply chain constraints due to the sectoral-wide supply chain shortages resulting from the current COVID-19 pandemic setbacks. The firm is also dependent on a single source supplier for its major ingredients, such as sauce. Overdependence on a single supplier of essential components often results in customer demands deficits. It has forced the company to limit its customers to a single sauce per entrée, two sauces per meal, and three pieces per thirty-count nuggets (Simko, Farris, Weiler & Gerardo, 2016). The single main supplier of the ingredient Heinz has failed to meet the market demands causing a major supply disruption for most of the restaurants in the country. Failure to keep an accurate supply chain inventory for both business entities has worsened the supply chain issues, thus affecting several industries in the country. Structural reforms are necessary in the country to address the supply chain issues by reducing the involved risks and slowing the manufacturing job losses through attractive manufacturing strategies. The opening of communities after the COVID-19 pandemic is a major challenge for the Chick-fil-A supply chain as a result of the high demands in the restaurant industry and low supply from the major suppliers of the basic ingredients (Mehra & Coleman, 2016). Attracting customers and ORGANIZATIONAL ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS 3 maintaining a steady workforce is a major challenge for the restaurant’s management teams due to the economic constraints presented by the pandemic. Solution There is a need for the restaurant to adopt a multi-supplier approach to its essential ingredients to avoid supply chain disruptions in a failed or untimely supply. Proper inventory management is another major challenge affecting Chick-fil-A business activities' sustainability and needs immediate mitigation policies to resolve the problem. The supply chain department does not keep proper inventory records to enhance sufficient stocking of the needed ingredients to satisfy customer demands (Mehra & Coleman, 2016). There is a need for the business management team to identify other low-cost supplies in the market. The firm should also consider starting its independent supply chain initiative to avert the frustrations resulting from failed or insufficient supplies from its trusted supplier. An independent supply chain approach will ensure a steady supply of the needed ingredients as well as the creation of new job openings for the citizens, which is a plus to its corporate social responsibility strategy (Simko et al., 206). Innovations in the supply chain management strategy will ensure the efficiency of inventory record keeping. Accurate inventory keeping ensures the correct amount of stock is available at any given time to avoid running out of stock when it is strategically required. Customer satisfaction is essential for organizational efficiency. Current Corporate Culture The restaurant is committed to a culture of corporate social responsibility, a program that has seen remarkable impacts on the surroundings and the communities in the areas it operates. Over the years, the firm has employed various approaches to increase its annual sales. For instance, the "cow plus" strategy allows the firm to focus on the fundamental proficiencies and ORGANIZATIONAL ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS 4 encourage its best-in-class products and services. The corporate culture enhances customer satisfaction increasing the demand for its products which constrains the supply chain department (Chick-Fil-A, 2014). The restaurant boasts an established customer base and brand recognition that support its marketing strategy, thus attracting more customers, which puts pressure on the supply chain. With stiff competition from Hershey co. and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), it is imperative that the Chick-fil-A brand changes its marketing and business approach to customer experience. Product differentiation and diversification of the marketing strategy form the basis for the increased sales for Chick-fil-A products (Chick-Fil-A, 2014). The restaurant is constantly redesigning its products' packaging to attract and provide an appealing look to its targeted customers, triggering supply chain-related constraints. Corporate Culture Weaknesses The organization lacks an elaborate and robust supply chain and distribution network that ensures a steady supply of all the organizational needs to satisfy the customers' demands in the most efficient manner possible (Simko et al., 206). The organizational culture should be centered on customers’ satisfaction demands through efficient product and service delivery systems. Solution I would propose creating a supply chain and distribution network to ensure that the ingredients and other packages get to the restaurants and the customers in the right time frames. The firm needs to remain innovative to address the supply chain complexities involving highvolume delivery requirements, changing customer demands, and changing supply chain and distribution environments (Simko et al., 206). The firm should form strategic partnerships with other leading market suppliers to complement its current supply chain management strategy. ORGANIZATIONAL ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS References Chick-Fil-A. General Credit · Credit quoted or paraphrased sources using an in-text citation. An in-text citation includes the primary author’s last name and the number of the source from the Source List. · Before using any source, first determine its credibility. Then decide if the source is appropriate and relevant for your project. Find tips here. · Well-researched assignments have at least as many sources as pages (see assignment instructions). Option #1: Paraphrasing ? Rewording Source Information in Your Own Words ORIGINAL SOURCE · Rephrase source information in your own words. Avoid repeating the same words of the author. “Writing at a college level requires informed research.” · Remember, you cannot just replace words from the original sentence. · Add the author’s last name and a number to the end of your paraphrase as a citation (which will be the same on your Source List). Examples PARAPHRASING As Harvey wrote, when writing a paper for higher education, it is critical to research and cite sources (1). When writing a paper for higher education, it is imperative to research and cite sources (Harvey, 1). Option #2: Quoting ? Citing Another Person’s Work Word-for-Word ORIGINAL SOURCE · Place quotation marks at the beginning and end of quoted information. “Writing at a college level requires informed research.” · Limit quotes to two or fewer sentences (approximately 25 words) at a time. · Do not start a sentence with a quotation. · Introduce and explain quotes within the context of your paper. · Add the author’s last name and a number to the end of the quote as a citation (which will be the same on your Source List). Strayer Writing Standards Examples QUOTING Harvey wrote in his book, “Writing at a college level requires informed research” (1). Many authors agree, “Writing at a college level requires informed research” (Harvey, 1). 6 Credit for Web Sources Web sources are accessed through an internet browser. Home Pages A home page loads when typing a standard web address. For instance, typing Google.com into any web browser will take you to Google’s home page. Cite a homepage when using information from a news thread, image, or basic piece of information on a company’s website. Find Tips Here. Specific Web Pages If using any web page other than the home page, include the specific page title and direct link (when possible) in the Source List entry. If the assignment used multiple web pages from the same source, create separate Source List entries (if the title and/or web address is different). Effective Internet Links When sharing a link to an article with your instructor and classmates, start with a brief summary of the article and why you chose to share it. Share vs. URL Options Cutting and pasting the URL (web address) from your browser may not allow others to view your source. This makes it hard for people to engage with the content you used. To avoid this problem, look for a “share” option and choose that when possible. Always test your link(s) before submitting. If you cannot properly share the link, include the article/source as an attachment. Interested classmates and your professor can reference the article shared as an attachment. Find tips here. Charts, Images, and Tables Charts, images, and tables should be centered horizontally on the page and should be followed by an in-text citation. Design your page and place a citation below the chart, image, or table. When referring to the chart, image, or table in the body of the assignment, use the citation. Do not include a chart, image, or table without introducing it in the assignment and explaining why it is necessary. On your Source List, provide the following details of the visual: · Author’s name (if created by you, provide your name). · Date (if created by you, provide the year). · Type (Chart, Image, or Table). · How to find it (link or other information; see Source List section for additional details). Strayer Writing Standards 7 Advanced Methods Some assignments require more advanced techniques. If necessary, these guidelines help with special case scenarios. Multiple Sources (Synthesizing) Synthesizing is the use of multiple sources in one paraphrased sentence or paragraph to make a strong point. While this is normally done in advanced writing, it could be useful for any writing where you use more than one source. Find tips here. The key is clarity. If you paraphrase multiple sources in the same sentence (or paragraph if most of the information contained in the paragraph is paraphrased), you should include each source in the citation. Separate sources using semi-colons (;) and create the citation in the normal style that you would for using only one source (Name, Source Number). ? Example SYNTHESIZED IN-TEXT CITATION (Harvey, 1; Buchanan, 2) In the example, the authors Harvey and Buchanan were paraphrased to help the student make a strong point. Harvey is the first source on the Source List, and Buchanan is the second source on the Source List. Traditional Sources ? Page Numbers IN-TEXT CITATION When referencing multiple pages in a textbook or other print book, consider adding page numbers to help the audience understand where the information is found. You can do this in three ways: (Harvey, 1, p. 16) a. by including it in the body of your assignment; or Example In the example, the author is Harvey, the source list number is 1, and the page number where this information can be found is page 16. or b. by using an in-text citation; or c. by listing page numbers in the order used in your assignment on the Source List. Check with your instructor or the assignment guidelines to see if there is a preference based on your course.
