Showing empathy is being able to put yourself in their shoes and being able to relate to the client. The way I would show empathy is through personal connections with their background and being willing to seek for help. Provide Mrs. Harjo with resources that are of low or no cost to her as it is known that she is not economically stable without the assistance she receives. Showing empathy is very different from being sympathetic as sympathy is just understanding the client’s issue or problem but not fully being engaged and creating that connection to be able to find the best possible solution. When one is being empathetic they are thinking as if they were in that position what they would want someone to do for them, while being sympathetic is more on that would be the most time efficient and easiest thing to do which many times it results in a temporary resolution.

Empathy is the ability to emotionally understand what other people are going through, to see things through their eyes, and to put yourself in their shoes. Essentially, it is placing yourself in the shoes of another person and experiencing what they are experiencing.

When you witness someone suffering, you may be able to imagine yourself in their shoes and empathize with their situation.
