TASK: The purpose of this course assignment is to guide the doctoral student in the development of Part 1 of the DNP Project Proposal. Part 1 includes the following sections: Introduction, Background and Significance, Needs Assessment, Problem Statement, and Literature Review with Table of Evidence. The grading rubric was developed for this course assignment using elements of the assigned course readings and the Rutgers School of Nursing DNP Toolkit.

Background & Significance (2 pages):    Problem/need is clearly identified.   Scope of Project is realistic and appropriate.   Information to support the need for the project is found in the literature search and beyond.   Describe the guideline, recommendation or EBP protocol that you will implement and what organizations (IOM, TJC, CMS...) that support/recommend it.    Describe: What Population is affected? How many are affected? What is Happening? Why Care? What is known about the need/problem? The significance is clearly and logically explained. The impact on population, healthcare cost, policy, education, and healthcare systems are addressed.	______/ 25 pts
Needs Assessment (1 page): What is the practice-evidence gap?  o What has been attempted to address the problem and the outcomes? Context of gap as related to: o Global o National o State o Local Context SWOT Analysis/Environmental Scan is described	______/ 15 pts
Problem/Purpose Statement (1-2 sentences):   • Summarize what problem needs to be addressed.	_______/ 5 pts

 

Review of Literature (3-5 pages specific to evidence-based intervention):   Roush Ch. 2 Search strategy is clearly articulated including data bases, key terms, number of hits, how search was narrowed down to final review (supporting PRISMA process) ROL is focused on answering the clinical question.  Evidence is synthesized and not simply restated or regurgitated.  The inconsistencies in the literature are pointed out.  The literature builds a case for the intervention and clearly shows the logical thing to do. Reader is referred to the Table of Evidence as an appendix to the proposal		_______/25 pts
Table of Evidence: (Pages as needed):   EBP Question is stated and each study clearly relates to the EBP Question Question and content are relevant to the DNP Project  Evidence is appraised and synthesized into an Evidence Table using instructions of Dearholt and Dang textbook.
