We have all been affected by the current Coronavirus outbreak in one way or another over the last few months, whether it is how our daily lives have changed to combat the spread of the virus or have contracted the virus ourselves or know a loved one that has. This investigation is not intended to underestimate the immensely personal aspect of this global disaster in any way and we should remember when analysing the statistical data available that it is based on real people for whom we must have empathy. The Coronavirus pandemic currently spreading across the world could be considered a Black Swan event1. This is an unpredictable event that arguably no-one could have guessed was going to happen and when it does society is not ready to deal with the outcome. Of course there have been similar viral outbreaks such as the Spanish flu in 1918 which infected a quarter of the world's population and Swine flu in 2009 when about 20% of the world population contracted this virus. However, it is still impossible to predict when a new pandemic may occur although perhaps society should be more prepared for when it does! Data is being collected on a daily basis across the world on the current Covid-19 cases but as with all statistical information you should be aware of the limitations of the data and its source. In addition data is also available to explain the effect of the necessary actions governments have had to impose on the economies around the world. Not all datasets will be easily comparable however within these constraints are requirement are to investigation to compare and contrast the data for the UK with data from your own home region or an alternative region with which you are familiar.

3. Probability
4. Discrete and continuous distributions
5. Sampling
6. Hypothesis Testing
