After carefully going through the Nestlé case study, you will need to assume the role of a consultant to an organisation that is interested in implementing a similar information system to attain competitive advantage. You will create a written business style report to answer the following: 1) If all FMCG (Fast-moving consumer goods) companies do SAP (or similar ERP implementations), how does a particular company in that sector derive any competitive advantage? 2) Does the biggest payback come from: (i) IT savings (ii) savings elsewhere in the business (iii) higher sales (iv) something else? This should test your ability to apply concepts, frameworks and theories (such as the Technology Acceptance Model theory, and the theoretical model of UTAUT, or the Technology–Organization–Environment framework) to the implementation of a similar information system (IS) in a company. Success requires students to demonstrate their ability to analyse, synthesise and evaluate material from the case study in the context of the knowledge base developed in the course. All references should be properly cited using UWE Harvard style (Should have at least 3 references cited).
