God Is True

God answers prayer; sometimes

      When hearts are weak.

   He gives the very gifts believers seek.

But often faith must learn a deeper rest;

   And trust God's silence, when He

Does not speak;

For he whose name is Love

Will send the best;

Stars may burn out nor mountain

Walls endure

But God is true; His promises are sure

To those who seek.

The author emphasizes that there is indeed a God whose works are magnificent.

In the following lines, the author strongly states that when one prays, God answers. He knows what one wants and grants his/her desires. He provides strength to those who are weak.

In the succeeding lines, Plantz pointed out that when we do not receive what we prays for, we must not be discouraged. Instead, our faith and belief must grow stronger.

Other things may fall apart. Everything on Earth may vanish but His promise of eternal life will be fulfilled if we commit our life to Him.

The author claims that God is true. He supports his idea by explaining how prayers work. Accordingly, when we communicate with God through a prayer, He listens and answers our desires. The line very gifts believers seek refers to the things we need such as healing. God knows what we truly desire; hence, he gives it to us. But then, we do not expect to have everything we pray for instantly. There are moments when God seems to be quiet. The line, But often faith must learn a deeper rest; tells us that we must learn to reflect too. We have to understand ourselves and find out what we really need. The best answers might come when we least expect it. The other half of the poem underscores that God, indeed is true. In the line, For he whose name is Love, the word love is capitalized to emphasize that it refers to God. As a genuine representation of love, God only provides the best for us, His people. Hence, we are not supposed to complain about unanswered prayers. We must understand that His answers may take some time because He simply wants the best for all of us. For as long as we have faith and trust in Him, and we accept Him in our hearts, we will be assured of his promise--an eternal life.
