'Education is the responsibility of everyone'

Step-by-step explanation

  • Education is a responsibility of everyone in that by voting the government, we practice democracy to bring to leadership people who will propel the education sector. We rely on this governments to setup schools and colleges, we rely on them to provide scholarships for those unable to cater for education and to also come up with policies and standards for education. The general public are involved in ensuring a student is all round.
  • Education goes past the classroom. The teacher is not the only source of knowledge for the child and we cannot rely on the few teachers to teach everything the child needs to know; socially, morally and academically. Children learn while at home and in the world. It is the responsibility of society to teach the child while outside of class. Some of the values taught outside of class include how to live with people in society, how to give back to society and how to apply concepts learnt at school to real life situation. To be knowledgeable all round, there are more people at play than teachers. At school one can be taught theoretically about integrity but the action part is practiced outside classroom and society holds you accountable.
  • Funding, development of curriculum and other supporting activities to education is not provided by one person. An example is when internationals NGOs provide books and other supporting materials to educational facilities. They do this to propel education. The government alone may not be able to take on this role since the budget might be exceed. Parents at times provide land to be used for building the schools or as playground. Some provide food and social amenities for schools.
