Actavi Health Group Employee Orientation

Working with the Slide Master and Slide Show/Presentations Project Steps

  • *GETTING STARTED
  • Open the file SC_PPT19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as SC_PPT19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
    • Support_PPT19_EOM4-2_Personnel.jpg
  • With the file SC_PPT19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. In your role as Human Resources Coordinator for Actavi Health Group, you are responsible for organizing and delivering an orientation about the company to all incoming employees.
Begin by switching to Slide Master View and then deleting the picture content placeholder in the Title Slide Layout slide.
  2. With Slide Master still displayed, copy the Edit Master text styles content placeholder and then paste it as shown in Figure 1, using alignment guides as needed.
  3.
  4. Close Slide Master View, then reset the slide layout to reflect the changes you just made to the slide master. Enter Actavi Health Group in the left content placeholder. Enter Employee Orientation in the copied content placeholder on the title slide. With the title slide still displayed, hide the background graphics, then insert the picture file Support_PPT19_EOM4-2_Personnel.jpg as the slide background. Change the transparency of the picture in the slide background to 20%.
  5. On Slide 2 ("Overview"), change the theme to Circuit for that slide only. Customize the Heading font by changing the font type to Arial.
  6. On Slide 3 ("Company History"), use the Thesaurus to insert the first synonym for "Committed" in the second bullet item that appears at the top of the synonym list.
  7. On Slide 5 ("Employee Benefits"), change the slide background to a gradient fill.
  8. Check the spelling of the presentation and ignore all instances of a suggested spelling change to "Actavi."
  9. Add the title Orientation to the document properties for the presentation. Save the presentation, inspect the presentation and when the results appear, close the inspector without making any suggested changes.
  10. Go to Slide 1 and switch to Slide Show view, then navigate to the last slide in the presentation. With the last slide still displaying in Slide Show view, change the ink color of the pen to Yellow. Use the highlighter to highlight the text "Josie Ng." Keep the annotation when you exit Slide Show view.
  11. Change the timing for Slide 3 ("Company History") so that it automatically advances after four seconds. Deselect On Mouse Click.
  12. Mark the presentation as final and then Save the presentation.
  13. In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
